Dear Parents and Students,
|
Thank you to all the parents who reached out. Please note we will be sending out a short survey for you to fill out tomorrow. This week we would like the children to continue with their reading and math skills. Please ensure your child is logging into Raz Kids and Zorbits each for at least 20 minutes a day. We are excited to see their reading levels increasing.
We would also like to have the children access this link from scholastic daily: https://classroommagazines.scholastic.com/support/learnathome/grades-1-2.html Here you can access stories each day which are also linked to the science curriculum. Word wall words for this week for Mrs. Coulas, Ms. Potvin and Ms. Dinardo will be : junk, ride, kicked, wanted and phone and for Mrs. Corrigan's class they are: to, too, two, one and won. All four classes would also like to add in three theme words : Easter, bunny, and hop. It would be wonderful if you could put each of these words into a complete sentence. Don't forget to start with a capital and end with a period. For an extra bonus make sure to add some describing words into your sentences! Some of the classes may have already studied these word wall words. Don't worry reviewing them is what we do at this time of year. For French, Mme. McAteer has shared a link of French books for your child to read: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/1AAIOnCqLdPCaGUDBXvCO5BJWb4CvR1ll I hope you are all safe and healthy! Missing you! Love, Mme. McAteer xo Mme. Panetta has shared a link to her blog http://madamepanetta.blogspot.com/ I hope that you are all well! Take care, Love, Mme. Panetta xo Most important we hope you guys are healthy and staying home safe with your families! The Grade 2 Teachers

Dear Parents,
It has been brought to our attention that some students are having trouble accessing Zorbits from home. Just a reminder that students will use the same username and password to login to Zorbits that they use to login to the computers at school. It's their Google email and password. Their google emails are their [email protected]. Their password varies depending on their class. Here is an example: username: [email protected] password: John2 To access the Zorbits page, you will first have to go to the Student Portal: https://sites.google.com/a/ocsbstudent.ca/k-6/ Please see the attached picture gallery for step by step visual instructions on how to access Zorbits from home. If you still are having issues, please contact your teacher. Happy learning! Mrs. Corrigan Ms. Potvin Mrs. Coulas Ms. Dinardo Dear Parents and Students, Please take it slow for the first week. Make sure to focus on resting and keeping your bodies and minds healthy. Spend time with your family and make sure everyone feels safe. A good start is to learn how to access the Student Portal from home. If you click on this link, it will bring you to the Student Portal homepage: https://sites.google.com/a/ocsbstudent.ca/k-6/ Please write in the comment section if you're unable to access it for some reason. Once you're on the homepage, you will discover many helpful programs that promote learning. Our favourites for math and language are Zorbits, Raz-Kids and Starfall. Math: Please practice your math skills at home this week using Zorbits. The website aligns with the Ontario curriculum. To access Zorbits, click on the link in the student portal. Next, you sign in to your Google account. This login is the same username and password that each student uses to login to their computers at school. Student emails are their first name and their last [email protected]. For example, [email protected]. The password depends on the class. For Ms. Potvin's class, the student passwords are their first name (with a capital letter) and their grade. For example, the password will look like Charlie2. Students with four-letter names also have the first letter of their last name, in a capital letter. For example, the password will look like BugsB2. Language: Two great programs to practice language skills at home are Raz-Kids and Starfall. Raz-Kids gives students a chance to practice their reading skills at home. We still recommend reading books at home with your child daily, but this site is beneficial for some extra independent practice. Please click on the link and then click on the Kids Login. Each class has different login information. Ms. Potvin's class, please look on the first page of your agendas for your logins. Starfall doesn't require any logins. The site offers many different interactive activities for students to explore. Word Wall Lists: Here is a list of the Grade Two Word Wall Words. Since there is no specific order to teach them in, each class may be at a different week or have different sets of words. They're helpful to practice frequently. Students can practice spelling the words and making sentences with them. Grade 2 Word Wall Words 1. they said was have because 2. children black make can't bug 3. friends very are sports small 4. car saw about with after 5. sister new(old) knew again when 6. rain drink didn't don't will 7. went that's right(wrong) write writing 8. played green there their here 9. into before best boy what 10. girl to two too were 11. won not those people one 12. who it's won't city them 13. hurt than then found use 14. clock beautiful thing float brothers 15. first or trip joke jump tell 16. many more name nice off 17. really sale skate snap quit 18. where when why who what how I 19. how slow could school every 20. crash eating your gym they're 21. junk ride kicked wanted phone 22. crashes shook caught truck talk 23. why want house favourite thank 24. line little made mail stop 25. other our outside pretty sometimes 26. does different turn colour watch goes 27. family put hear book great Please refer to the agendas to figure out which words to practice. Religion: Please continue to pray every day. Our faith will help us get through these uncertain times. For the first week, this is what the Grade 2 teachers recommend. Please continue to refer back to this blog post for login information and the full word wall list. Also, please let us know if you have any issues logging onto the programs. Your classroom teacher will contact you. Please see the images below if you're not sure what the links look like on the Student Portal. We are all in this together. Parents, thank you for your continued support. Students, you can do this! Stay healthy. Stay Safe. We miss you! Ms. Potvin Ms. Dinardo Mrs. Coulas Mrs. Corrigan |
